Has The Dating Scene Changed In The Last Twenty Years

The dating scene… This usually brings up images of beautiful women, smooth-talking men, waiting for a call, wondering if the other person feels the way you do, heights of passion and the agonies of breaking up. For most people, the dating scene is not an end in itself; rather it is a means to finding a long-term relationship.

When you meet someone new, the internet allows you to verify whether people are who they claim to be. You can Google that person, find photos, articles or do background checks on them.

There is no shame in online dating. We repeat: there is no shame in online dating. Are not just for the socially awkward; they’re tailor-made for those who are busy because they help to streamline the search process. Two words of advice: 1. Be honest with your profile: don’t overestimate or use photos from 2004. You want to meet someone who likes the real you, and 2. Always start out with a coffee date so you can meet the person without the pressure that a dinner date entails and without the perception altering effects of alcohol.

Change your Routine
If you’ve been living alone for a while it’s easy to get stuck in a rut, especially if the thought of socialising sends shivers down your spine. See your single status as a chance for new experiences and discovery. Join clubs, go on group excursions and learn new skills and you’ll meet people with ease.

Hit the gym. Have you seen “The Jersey Shore?” Their hobbies are GTL — gym, tanning and laundry – all ways to improve their appearance and impress the ladies. This is what you’re competing against. Admit things have shifted since you were last single and start toning it up.

Skip the bar scene. It’s OK to go to bars with friends or co-workers but don’t do it to meet potential dates.

What to wear on a first date – Tips for women

What to wear on a first date can be difficult as you probably don’t know your date well enough to know what they do and do not like. Here are some top tips for women to help you decide what to wear on a first date.

Keep jewellery to a bare minimum. Lots of jewellery will make you cheap.

Don’t overdo it with the makeup. Always remember less is definitely more.

Avoid brightly coloured nail polishes and lip sticks.

Avoid hair spray, it is just not nice.

Go easy with the perfume, if you can smell it strongly, then you have put too much on.

Don’t look too trendy, your friends might be jealous of your latest outfit but your date might not follow fashion and may wonder what you are wearing.

As you can see there have been many changes, some good and some not so good. But the thing that saddens me most nowadays is that people’s expectations are too high with many want perfection in a partner. I think that this is the main factor why single people today tend to stay single for longer!
